Mrs. Johnson

Mrs. Johnson is in her fifth year of teaching fourth grade at St. Cajetan.   Previously, she spent 6 years teaching for the Chicago Public Schools.  She was drawn to teach in the Catholic schools because of her desire to work in a faith-based environment.  She has been blessed by the positive and supportive atmosphere that she have discovered at St. Cajetan.

Mrs. Johnson came to the teaching profession following a career change.  After graduating from the University of Illinois, she received her Master's in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University.  For several years she worked in the counseling profession, helping children and families in community mental health and residential treatment centers.   She discovered that the part of counseling that she was passionate about was the teaching aspect.   An opportunity to teach and earn a Master's Degree with the Chicago Teaching Fellows Program enabled her to do this.  In 2009, Mrs. Johnson earned a Master's of Teaching from National Louis University.  She enjoy helping children grow academically, socially and emotionally. She feels it is a privilege to be a part of a child’s developmental journey.
