Assignment Expectations
All assignments should be completed neatly in pencil. Students will be expected to write their first & last name, number, and date on all homework and classwork assignments! In addition, students are expected to use neat penmanship, correct punctuation/capitalization, and accurate spelling on all assignments! Accurate spelling includes being able to spell grade-level words correctly. Students are expected to respond to all Reading, Religion, Spelling, Writing, and Social Studies questions using a complete sentence. If a student does not meet these requirements, two percent will be deducted from the assignment grade. If it is completely unreadable, the student will be asked to redo this assignment and have their parents sign both papers.AbsencesIf a student is absent, they will receive their missed assignments when they return to school. Teachers will not prepare assignments ahead of time for planned absences. If a student misses work while they are absent, they have the same number of days “out” to turn in their assignments. For example, if a student misses two days of school, they have two extra days to turn in an assignment they missed. Assignments turned in after this date will be marked as “missing” and the late policy will be applied.
If a student misses a quiz or test while they are absent, they will make it up after school. Make-up assessments are scheduled for that Friday from 2:30 - 3:15.
Missing & Late Homework
If students do not turn their homework in by the assigned due date, they will lose a Dojo point. Assignment details will be recorded on Dojo (i.e. Math HW pg. 75). Missing homework will also be recorded on Power-School as a zero and marked as "missing" until it is turned in.
Late work is accepted under Cajetan's missing work guidelines. When a student is missing an assignment they will complete a Missing assignment form to bring home to their parents. The missing assignment and parent note should be returned as soon as possible. The latest it can be returned for credit is by the end of the week or on Monday if it occurs later in the week.
Students will lose 10% of the final assignment grade each day if it is late until it is turned in. If an assignment is turned in late, the lowest grade that can be earned is 50%. Power-School will be updated after the assignment is turned in and marked as “late.”
Please see the behavior policy for details!
Corrections
Students will be able to make corrections on tests when the grade is a D or an F in an effort to receive a higher grade! Test retakes will be at the teacher's discretion and students who do develop a pattern of needing to retest will warrant a meeting to develop a more affective solution to preparing for assessments. Students may NOT complete corrections on cumulative exams. Students who submit correct corrections will receive 0.5 points back for every 1 point lost. For example, if a student incorrectly answers a 1 point question and submits corrections, they are able to receive +0.5 points back. If they incorrectly answer a 2 point question and submit corrections, they are able to receive +1 point, and so on.
Corrections on regular assignments, classwork, and weekly quizzes are not mandatory unless otherwise stated by the teacher. When completing corrections, the original assignment should not be modified! All corrections should be completed on a separate sheet of paper and stapled to the top of the original assignment. Only incorrect answers need to be corrected! With the corrections, students should include a short written response about how they fixed their mistakes. Both the original assignment and the corrections should be turned in together! Students MUST complete corrections in school on Friday from 2:30-3:15 with a supervising teacher present. Parents will sign the quiz or test paper acknowledging that they will stay to complete their corrections, Notes and Books will not be used to make corrections.
